ETEC 444-"Ear Training"
Unit Overview
Course Description: Ear Training is designed to develop and improve aural skills and general musicality. It will closely be paired with music theory to understand better its parallel from early music creation. The goals of the class include fluency with musical notation and the development of musical memory and inner hearing. Improvement of aural skills will be achieved through the following activities:
Sight Singing
Rhythmic Dictation
Melodic Dictation
Basic Musicianship
Harmonic Dictation
STUDENT GUIDANCE MATERIALS
Students will receive all course materials in PDF format online, eliminating the need to purchase a textbook. Supplementary resources will also be provided for extra practice. The objective of sight-singing is to achieve mastery in singing and develop relative pitch without relying on the piano.
